The Bottle of Baileys That's Been in Maxine's Fridge for 10 Years

A dusty bottle of Baileys sitting alone on a fridge shelf with a handwritten sticky note on it

Some things in life are meant to be enjoyed slowly. Other things are meant to sit in the back of the fridge for over a decade, taken out twice, sipped once each time, and put right back.

For Maxine, that's a bottle of Baileys — a wedding gift, given to her more than ten years ago. To this day, it's still in her fridge. She's had exactly two sips of it since the day she got it.

We're not sure if it's sentimental value, sheer forgetfulness, or Maxine simply deciding that some things are better admired than consumed. Ask her about it next time you're in, and you might get a different answer every time.

It's the kind of small, funny detail that tells you a lot about the people who've kept this shop running — a little stubborn, a little sentimental, and never in a rush. Much like the fish counter itself, some things are just worth doing properly, on their own time.
